January: The Godhead

If men do not comprehend the character of God, they do not comprehend themselves. (Joseph Smith, King Follett Sermon, 1844)

That quote from the King Follett Sermon, at least in my opinion, captures why teaching the correct concept of the Godhood is so important. It is the first key of knowledge, linking our identities with God's and with everyone on the Earth. It's unifying, not divisive. It's comforting, not scary. It's inspiring, not intimidating. Finally, it's humbling, not conceited. Let's take advantage of this month and teach this bedrock principle with the Spirit and with our own experiences.

“We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost” (Articles of Faith 1:1).
The outlines in this unit will help the youth learn how to strengthen their faith in the members of the Godhead as they study the scriptures and share their testimonies with others. They will gain experience following the guidance of the Holy Ghost in their efforts to learn and teach the gospel. Encourage them to ask questions about what they are learning, to seek to learn more, and to share with others what they discover.
